The best kind of day is one that proves the weather man wrong. When I read that the forecast was calling for all-day showers, I quickly put on my garlic necklace, did a rain dance, and prayed to all things holy and weather-related that we be greeted with nothing but sunshine and chirping birds on the day of Emma and Zak's wedding. I know, I know, I've been quoted in past blogs singing praise to wedding-day sprinkles, but this wedding was different. This wedding was taking place at the Father Val Hall in Powhatan, VA, where just about the sweetest outdoor courtyard I've ever seen was calling my name.
June 4, 2016 turned out to be a beautiful day, puffy white clouds and all. I'm not sure which I credit more for such perfect sunshine; the garlic necklace or the uncoordinated rain dance, but whichever did the trick, I am forever grateful for it, because Emma and Zak's big day couldn't have been more perfect. The flowers were perky and vibrant, the grass was green and luscious, and yes, the birds were even chirping.
An intimate outdoor ceremony brought together friends and family from all over in celebration of Emma and Zak's union. A color palette of purple, pink, and violet provided the perfect pop of color for the lusciously green, leafy backdrop of the courtyard. Guests were given personalized, white sunglasses as a token of the couple's appreciation for joining them, which I thought was the perfect gift for such a bright and sunny affair.
Once the "I Do's" had been said, Zak and Emma continued their party inside the Father Val reception hall, where guests munched on tasty hors d'oeuvres, drooled over the huge range of yummy desserts, and danced the night away. The night came to an end all too soon, but ended in the most perfect way; a grand sparkler exit. Emma and Zak's wedding day was nothing short of amazing, and I am so thrilled to present to you, my favorite photos from their wedding day!
*** As always, I am so honored to have been a part of this beautiful day, and I truly can't thank Emma, Zak, or their amazing friends and family enough for their amazing treatment. I also have to give another huuuuuge shout-out to my super talented second-shooter/BFF (who captured a bunch of these awesome shots), Kam Goodrich of Kam Goodrich Photography; I could not have done this without you. ***
