The best kind of weddings are the ones where I leave knowing I not only captured some amazing images, but I also made some amazing friends. When Kayla contacted me one short month before her wedding day, in search of a photographer she could feel both comfortable and confident working with for her big day, I knew it was a wedding I couldn't pass up. There was something about the way she spoke so genuinely about her fiance that pulled me in and made me want more. We made a coffee date to go over all the details, and ended up staying until Starbucks closed, just laughing and exchanging stories about life and love. I left that night knowing that a divine friendship was in the works and more excited than ever to document her special day.
Kayla and Daniel exceeded all my expectations for a bride and groom. They were both patient and kind, even encouraging me throughout the day, constantly affirming how thankful they were to have me photographing their wedding. Their day was cold and windy, but somehow still perfect from start to finish. Located in the heart of one of New Kent's finest winerys, The Vintager Inn B&B provided a timeless, rustic background with hay bales and old barns, while never giving off a "country" feel. Kayla was sure to incooperate classic, antique details like lace and blush tones to provide balance and class to her event.
Sweet touches such as a first look between the Father of the Bride, a heartfelt letter exchange between the bride and groom, and a rose ceremony between the new couple and their parents to symbolize unity of both families provided emotions worth documenting, while Daniel's tears as he saw his soon-to-be wife advance down the isle will always be my favorite moment in time. Toasts of good luck and fortune echoed throughout their reception hall following the romantic union. Every detail was more perfect than the last, leaving me truly impressed by Kayla's close attention to detail. She had truly thought of everything, even sure to provide shawls for the chilly shoulders of her guests.
The Lupino-Heisey Party was truly an event to remember; showcasing a prop-filled photo booth, a fully stocked bar, and a lively dance party provided by the always-entertaining DJ Paula Shrum. A classic sparkler exit ended the night to a truly perfect day as guests from all walks of life celebrated one last hoorah with Kayla and Daniel.
Since their wedding, Kayla and Daniel have sent multiple 'Thank You' texts, a congratulatory flower bouquet upon the announcement of my new studio (!!) and tons of love and support, confirming what I had known all along; their friendship is one I will charish forever. This 'job' provides me with tons of opportunities, but the chance to make long-lasting relationships with the sweetest couples ever is what truly makes it all worth while. Please join me in looking back at some of my most favorite moments from Kayla and Daniel's special day.
*** As always, I am so honored to have been a part of this breath-taking day, and I truly can't thank Kayla, Daniel, or their sweet friends and family enough for their amazing treatment. I also have to give another huuuuuge shout-out to my super talented second-shooter (who captured a bunch of these awesome shots), Ashley Dorton of Ashley Dorton Photography; I could not have done this without you. ***
