You know what gets a bad rap? Rain on a wedding day. I mean, I get it... we all want those picture-perfectly-sunny, cheerful photos that Pinterest says we haaaave to have. But WHOEVER decided that you can't have beautiful, bright and cheery photos on a rainy day isn't invited to my Christmas party, because who needs that kind of negativity in their lives anyway?! Not me. Rainy weather hydrates all the grass and flowers, which makes for luscious, leafy, HAPPY-looking surroundings. Rain clouds give your photos depth and drama, while they also provide the most perfect, even shade which photographer's could only wish for otherwise. Overcast days allow for the maximum amount of natural white light to spill through all the windows, which even helps brighten your indoor photos. Plus, some cultures recognize rain on your wedding day as good luck and fertility, so seriously, if it rains... relax and know that your photos are far from doomed.
May 22, 2016 proves my theory and leaves no room for argument. Nikki and Ben said "I Do" in front of their friends and family at the beautiful Stonehenge Golf and Country Club. Nikki's preparation and persistence when it came to her ideal backup rain plan is truly what led her intended-outdoor wedding to a raving success. She knew that the stunning shade of coral she chose as the theme of her ceremony would go perfectly with the naturally-lit lower-corridor of her venue, and boy... was she right.
This insanely gorgeous wedding was packed full of sooo much love, tons of laughs, and an ICE CREAM BAAAARRR stocked with all the works! Nikki's love for chocolate also inspired her to provide her guests with THE most amazing-smelling cupcake table ever, which brought me to the realization that Nikki may also be MY soulmate. But in all seriousness, the only things sweeter than the desserts at this wedding were the Bride and Groom. Their love for each other is evident in even the candid photos from their special day, and I truly believe that no amount of rain could ever dull the sparkle they each have in their eyes for the other. I couldn't be more thrilled to finally present to you, my favorite images from their wedding!
*** As always, I am so honored to have been a part of this beautiful day, and I truly can't thank Ben, Nikki, or their amazing friends and family enough for their amazing treatment. I also have to give another huuuuuge shout-out to my super talented second-shooter/BFF (who captured a bunch of these awesome shots), Kam Goodrich of Kam Goodrich Photography; I could not have done this without you. ***
